American Retirees Education Foundation
The National Retiree Legislative Network (NRLN) formed the American Retirees Education Foundation (AREF) with the filing of Articles of Incorporation on October 18, 2014. The Internal Revenue Service has approved the AREF as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
The NRLN Board authorized the creation of the AREF to expand the research and educational reach of the NRLN. As a 501(c)(3) educational foundation, the AREF is able to apply for grants from foundations and accept tax-exempt contributions and bequeaths from individuals. In December each year the AREF make an appeal to Americans for tax-deductible contributions.
The AREF uses a subscription to a database service to search thousands of foundations to determine which ones have the greatest potential of accepting grant proposals.
The NRLN President, Bill Kadereit, serves as Chairman and President the Board of Directors for the AREF with members Bob Tompkins, NRLN Vice President – Secretary Treasurer, Bob Martina, NRLN Vice President – Grassroots and Ed Beltram, NRLN Vice President – Communications.
The NRLN continues its role as a lobbyist using its whitepapes for changes in federal legislation and regulation that benefit retirees.
